Technology is enviably inevitable in our lives. My morning starts with cell phone alarms to checking updates in our social media handles to recharging the machine. Next, I jump to open my i-pad, laptop or desktop for work. Then I forgot what to do, because the updates about weather, politics, mystery news, and other host of interesting stuff keep coming. It’s 12.30 pm now and surfing is not yet over. Recalled that, I need to pay the credit card, telephone, electricity bills and take a print of the bank statement for car loan. Server is down. It’s lunch time. Let’s go. I can finish the work in the evening. Throughout the afternoon cellphone kept me busy with status updates, likes counting, and commenting on others updates. In the evening, after a cup of coffee, I am relaxed for work. What’s this? A new variant of COVID-19 is found. Let’s cross check the information. I am scared now. Oh! I got distracted. What to do? Again lockdown! No way! I frantically called my friends in and outside the country to verify and to ensure that I have the most authentic and updated information with me. Let’s break the news in WhatsApp, Telegram, WeChat, and Instagram to make it viral. Virus news getting Viral! What an achievement! I got some critical comments. How dare you say like that without sufficient evidences? Your inferences lack scientific rigor. Phew! Who cares? My brother is a certified medical doctor. You are not even qualified to comment. Stop this non-sense. Gradually, I am entering to sabotage the other who disagrees with me. Let me see who my followers are. Yeah, I got them now, Oh! they are from my caste and religion and share similar ideology with me. Let me create a secret group to retaliate. In less than an hour the group is ready with all kinds of weapon in the virtual world. Few hours later, the news broke that at several places people are sloganeering, stone-pelting and abusing the (other) group. What happened? I was curious to know. I found some of my followers on the TV screen destroying public properties. Now it’s midnight. Let’s have a good night sleep. The day was very hectic. Now, I need to take rest. Bye, see you tomorrow while checking the updates in my cellphone. I am not designed to distract and destroy: Blame it on the Technology my dear!
